About the Partnership

Like the beginnings of many great partnerships, Ed Video Media Arts Centre was already familiar with their local corporate business, Intrigue Media. Prior to “making the ask”, and formally bringing on Intrigue Media as a partner, Ed Video familiarized themselves with the staff and vision of Intrigue Media. In fact, many artists and members of Ed Video Media Art Centre had gained employment at Intrigue Media and had continued their connection and relationship to the artist-run centre. Intrigue Media staff had made visits to Ed Video on several occasions for specific project equipment and advice regarding individual projects. Ed Video quickly realized that both organizations shared target audiences and experience with incorporating technology into their business.

Intrigue Media was the first company to sponsor Ed Video Media Arts Centre through the artsVest program. By leveraging this support, Intrigue Media was able to introduce Ed Video to four other new sponsors, three of which also participated in the artsVest program. As a result of this partnership, Ed Video’s equipment expanded the opportunities that Intrigue Media could offer to their corporate clients and made it possible for them to cover larger productions while inspiring their staff to produce more creative and artistic videos.

Ed Video’s lack of a public profile had been an ongoing issue for the organization, making it difficult to convince media to highlight activities and events being held at the centre. By working with Intrigue Media, the positive partnership helped create community awareness of the centre.

Intrigue Media offered ‘in-kind’ sponsorship with postings made every other month on their network for a period of six months with a commitment to sponsor Ed Video for three years.

Intrigue Media benefited from Ed Video’s artistic leanings and advanced technological knowledge by making the most recent technologies available to Intrigue, including camera equipment, software expertise and training.
