Connecting arts and culture organizations with business investors — that is the purpose of artsVest, which Business for the Arts national program manager Laura Adlers launched in the Southwest District for Culture, Recreation and Sport at Moose Jaw Cultural Centre on Tuesday.

The artsVest program is a matching incentive and training program aimed at encouraging business sponsorship and engagement in arts and culture.

With $700,000 funding from Canadian Heritage and the Government on Saskatchewan, Business for the Arts ( is launching the program in seven communities across the province over the next two weeks.

“We have now been given the unique opportunity to take the program across the country,” Alders said of artsVest, which has already existed in Ontario for several years, and is now moving into Saskatchewan.

“We estimate, in Saskatchewan, 120 arts organizations will partner with 160 found business across the province, stimulating an estimated $1.24 million over the next two years into the arts and culture sector.”
