Business for the Arts is hiring a Project Manager in Regina, Saskatchewan

Business for the Arts is expanding its artsVest program nationally and is looking for a project manager to help deliver the program within Saskatchewan.  This person will have a strong knowledge of and passion for Saskatchewan’s not-for-profit cultural organizations, with an understanding of the arising opportunities and challenges prevailing in the sector, particularly within fundraising and sponsorship.  We are looking for someone who is highly professional, independent, organized, engaging, comfortable with public speaking and able to travel frequently within the province.  The ideal candidate will have had experience managing arts-based or community-based projects that involve navigating and supporting a variety of stakeholders and leaders from the private, public and cultural sectors.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Manager will work under the leadership of Business for the Arts’ National Program Director and will work closely with local stakeholders and a local Sponsorship Workshop Leader in delivering the artsVest program.  artsVest is a sponsorship training and matching incentive program of Business for the Arts, designed to spark new business sponsorship of arts and culture.  The Project Manager will oversee a variety of duties in implementing the program in Saskatchewan including, but not limited to:

  • Project Management: With Business for the Arts, manage the implementation of the program within Saskatchewan, including tracking timelines, budgets, schedules, performance measurements and deliverables and consistently reporting to the head office and various stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder & Community Relations: Liaise with community leaders from the private, public and cultural sectors to effectively implement the program in participating communities across the province.
  • Event & Workshop Management: Manage the delivery of the artsVest launch events and sponsorship workshops across the province, liaising with local leadership to coordinate the launch events and working with the Sponsorship Workshop Leader to develop the workshops.
  • Grant Management: Coordinate the application and granting processes, including coordinating the jury and gathering, organizing and vetting applications with the head office.
  • Support: Provide year-round support to arts and heritage organizations as they work through the application process, sponsorship proposals and securing private sector sponsorship.
  • Communications: Effectively communicating the mission of Business for the Arts and the goals and strategy of the artsVest program through written and verbal communications, assisting the head office in development of press releases, informational packages, training materials and brochures, as well as verbally delivering program information at workshops.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Strong understanding of the not-for-profit cultural sector across Saskatchewan, particularly within fundraising or sponsorship
  • Strong project management experience, particularly within a cultural or community-based setting
  • Extensive event management experience
  • Comfortable with public speaking and with delivering information-based presentations to large groups
  • At ease with senior private, public and cultural sector leaders
  • Detail-oriented, multi-tasking management skills
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong negotiating and diplomatic skills
  • Self-starter and creative problem solver
  • Highly independent with a strong comfort in reporting / being managed remotely
  • Degree in cultural management, business or equivalent
  • 5+ years project / event / administrative / management experience
  • Highly computer literate and at ease with new technologies, including online collaboration and project management tools
  • A valid driver’s license is essential, as travel within the province in required.
  • French/English oral and written ability is an asset

Remuneration:   This is a contract position at $4,100/month, with the possibility of extending to March 2013.
