Business for the Arts celebrates $110K in business sponsorship raised by cultural organizations in Stratford through artsVest

On March 2nd, Business for the Arts gathered with local municipal, business and cultural leaders in Stratford, ON to celebrate $110K in business sponsorship generated by the region’s arts and culture organizations through BftA’s artsVest program. artsVest brought sponsorship training workshops and $50K in matching incentive funds to the region in early 2010 to stimulate business investment in culture. The public, private and cultural sectors of Stratford, St.Mary’s & Perth rallied behind the cause, creating a variety of innovative partnerships between the arts and business communities.

Speaking about the impact of business support of the arts at the event were Mayor Dan Mathieson (City of Stratford), Mayor Steve Grose (Town of St. Mary’s) and Warden Julie Behrns (County of Perth). Joani Gerber, Senior Business Advisor for the Stratford Perth Centre of Business, emceed the event, with participating cultural organizations and their business sponsors enjoying catering provided by Northwestern Secondary School Screaming Avocado Culinary Arts Club.

In 2010, with funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Ontario Ministry of Tourism & Culture, artsVest worked with 43 arts organizations in 5 communities to stimulate $497K in business investment in arts and culture.
